Talk:Kenji Tomiki
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've been a student at Kenji Tomiki's dojo in Osaka for almost 10 years with the exception of a short 2 year stint in Canada. Expanded the short two line biography a tad.Peter Rehse 02:39, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
I think it would be very interesting to expand this bio of Tomiki with more solid info about what kind of a person he was - personality-wise. There is some info in Karl Geis' 12 winds book about his experiences with Tomiki and there is some good info in the end of this interview (http://www.aikidojournal.com/article.php?articleID=391)about Tomiki's behavior and personality. But I wouldn't feel comfortable expanding this bio myself because I have very few resources - I figure a JAA person would have better info and resources...Aiki Patrick Parker 14:14, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Please go ahead - just remember that Karl Geis had very little contact with Tomiki. All I get are a few stories from his main students. In any case if you expand - I'll help.Peter Rehse 00:13, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Biography template
Ok, I have added the wikipedia Biography Template and have shifted the verbiage that was in the old page into the template.
I got a few dates and events from the Shodokan website and put them in list format as an outline so we can write those sections in "journalistic style". You don't have to worry about me trying to get all my info from Geis' books, etc. but it would be good to find some more sources besides Geis and the Shodokan website.
I left the "marriage and Family section fo the template in - was he ever married? did he have kids?
How about findin photos that we can use for this page?
oops, i'm not logged in... Pat Parker
The aikido jounal link at the bottom of the Tomiki page links to two further articles. I'll have to check on the name of his wife and daughter and also if it is something that should be included. Perhaps by Monday. I asked for picis before but Honbu perfers not to.Peter Rehse 02:04, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
I moved the work in progress to Kenji Tomiki/temp. When its a bit further along we can easily just move it over.Peter Rehse 09:37, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
