Kentucky Route 234 is a West to East route that begins near downtown Bowling Green and runs just over twenty miles before terminating at KY 101, six miles North of Scottsville.
[edit] Route Info
The route is known locally as Seventh Street from its starting point until it intersects with the Bypass of U.S. 31-W. Once the Route crosses the Bypass, it is known locally as Cemetery Road for the remainder of its length in Warren County. A short distance after becoming Cemetery Road, 234 intersects with Interstate 65 at Exit 26.
Once the highway crosses into Allen County, it is known simply by its numerical designation, until its terminus at KY 101.
[edit] Recent History
The junction of KY 234 and I-65 was altered from an overpass to an intersection in order to provide a direct route from the Interstate to downtown Bowling Green. Construction of the new intersection, designated Exit 26 on I-65, was completed in late 2002.
Prior to the opening of the new intersection, the Cemetery Rd. section of the route between I-65 and the U.S. 31-W Bypass was widened from two to four lanes to accommodate the anticipated increase in traffic flow.
