Kenneth S. Cole

Kenneth S. Cole (July 10, 1900 - April 18, 1984) was a American biophysicist described by his peers as "a pioneer in the application of physical science to biology".[1] Cole was awarded the National Medal of Science in 1967.

Cole graduated from Oberlin College in 1922 and received a PhD in physics with F. K. Richtmyer from Cornell University in 1926. He began working on the electrical properties of living cell membranes while at Harvard University in 1926. His work on membranes continued throughout his career.
