The Kenner Collegiate Vocational Institute and Intermediate School facility encompasses over 200 000 square feet that are dedicated to classrooms, Music rooms, a number of new Science laboratories, Library Resource Centre, Resource support rooms, a number of top of the line computer labs, a full weight and health room and both large and small gymnasiums. One upper wing is devoted to the Intermediate Division. In this division hallway are two new computer labs as well as two new Science labs. Thanks to the efforts of the construction crews that wormed over the summer a number of new facilities have been made available to all members of the school population.
Kenner is fully wheelchair accessible so all staff and students as well as the members of the public who are physically challenged can take advantage of the ramps and elevator that is in the building. The auditorium seats approximately 480 students and the cafeteria can comfortably accommodate about 320 seated students. Students benefit from a full service cafeteria and staff can access Kaycees - a student staffed restaurant that allows students to develop their waiting, food preparation and chef skills under the close supervision of Peter Poley a fully accredited chef.
[edit] External
Kenner is located on a large lot that is dedicated to preserving as much green space as possible. This space is dedicated to a track, a football field, a soccer field as well as a baseball field. All members of the community are encouraged to use the facilities at the school as needed - bookings are accepted through the board office. The school is located close to a church, fire station, funeral home, local mall, and corner stores within a residential community setting. In order to preserve space, parking is available to staff only. There are three visitor spots as well as five handicapped parking spots available at the front of the school. Parking on the street can easily result in a ticket so visitors are encouraged to park in the designated spots.
