Ken Wharton (politician)

Following the May 2005 United Kingdom General Election, there were signs that the Veritas Party was beginning to fall apart, with Veritas members resigning, returning to UKIP or joining the English Democrats.
On July 12, 2005 it was announced that party member and Falklands War veteran Ken Wharton intended to challenge Robert Kilroy-Silk for the leadership, claiming party members were "not being looked after". Discontented party members, including Ken Wharton, also set up the Veritas Members Association to "put the truth back into Veritas".
Ken was forced to withdraw his leadership challenge due to long-term ill health arising from the injuries that he had sustained during the Falklands War of 1982 after his Royal Navy ship suffered a direct hit from an Argentinian Exocet missile.
Ken later resigned from the Veritas Party in September 2005 and was one of the founders of the Popular Alliance in March 2006.
Ken Wharton is the webmaster of the Talk Veritas forum.
Following 10 years in the Royal Navy, Ken became an automotive engineer. He has a BSc in mechanical engineering and he is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, Society of Automotive Design Safety and a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
