Ken Cotter

Ken Cotter is a long established singer and songwriter from Cork City in the Irish Republic. Ken has been performing live, contemporary music since 1989, first appearing at respected music venues such as de Barra’s in the west of County Cork. He quickly gained a dedicated and enthusiastic following and, after turning professional in 1991, enjoyed a rapid rise to national notoriety. His first International tour dates quickly followed.

Cotter became known as an exciting and original performer and has received superior critical acclaim for his original melodies and lyrical dexterity that confronts topical political, social and personal issues. His lyrics have been favourably compared to celebrated artists such as Crowded House.

Today, Ken regularly tours major Irish city venues and performs in the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia and Singapore, where he has gained a devoted cult following.

A staunch supporter of independent musicians, Ken created the 2005 Island of Song initiative as part of the Cork St.Patrick’s Festival, which was a unique musical collaboration of artists from Ireland and Newfoundland that included dates in Newfoundland.

Also eager to promote his musical heritage, Ken was fundamental in creating, and directing, the Sherkin Island Inter-Celtic Music Festival which is held annually on Sherkin Island in West Cork, Ireland.

In September 2005 Ken released his new CD Agent Orange, the long-awaited follow up to Blue Letter Day. Produced by Ashley Keating from Cork band Frank and Walters, Agent Orange is a new collection of original songs that caused a critical sensation upon its release in the mainstream music industry. Featuring some of Corks premier musical talent, the album includes a very special guest appearance by Aïda of the internationally renowned Cork band Metisse.
