Kemri

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kermi is a town situated in India, in the Rampur District of Uttar pradesh state.. The present Mayor of Kemri Town is Haji Mukhtar Ahmad.

Kemri was a part of the princely state of the Nawab. It became a part of the Indian state when the Rampur state merged with the Indian Nation. Situated between the cities of Rampur and Bilaspur, Kemri holds significant political importance in the region.

Inhabitants mostly refer to themselves as the "Banjara" community. This is possibly due to migration to the region from either Turkey or Afghanistan many centuries ago. Due to recent efforts by the local Municipal council for building roads, improving the local infrastructure as well as decent transport links to Delhi, Kemri is fast becoming a vibrant trading town.
