Kempen is a town in the district of Viersen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated approx. 30 km northwest of Düsseldorf, and 20 km east of Venlo. It was once a centre of textile manufacturing: silk, cotton, linen, etc.

Kempen is the birthplace of Thomas à Kempis.
