Kemal Shahin was born on November 18 1985 and is originally from the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). Before entering the show Kemal was a student of English Literature, Cultural History and Drama and Liverpool John Moore's University. Kemal was also a Bellydancer, having won awards for his dance in Turkey.

Kemal came to fame in 2005, as a contestant on the UK's biggest reality television show, Big Brother. Kemal was the thirteenth and final person to enter the Big Brother house (dressed in a red sari) and the ninth to leave (in a green sari) on July 29, gaining 51.1% of the public vote and finishing 8th overall. When quizzed by Davina about his sexuality, he answered, "I don't know. Who can say? I'm looking for a man." Despite this, he was photographed many months later dating fellow contestant Kinga. Though the media speculated that the relationship was a publicity stunt the couple remained adament they were in love.

During the house Kemal caused much controversy and was the original favourite to win. Kemal was mostly remembered for his flamboyant fashion sense, his outspoken manner, catty arguments with other housemates and his visits to the diary room. During his stay in the house, he became good friends with Derek Laud whom he fondly referred to as Grandpa.

Kemal has featured in various magazines and newspapers since leaving the house, notably a high fashion shoot with Attitude Magazine, a masculine makeover with Now Magazine in 2006, where he was given a total makeover and a story with New Magazine in March 2007, talking about being Transgendered.

Kemal appeared on Sky News in early 2006 with fellow contestant Makosi Musambasi where they stunned newsreader Julie Etchingham with their bickering after Makosi stating that Kemal's crossdressing was a form of seeking attention and Kemal's retaliation over her then court case where she faced possible deportation back to Zimbabwe. The interview ended with Kemal calling Makosi a 'Stupid Cow'.

Kemal has starred in Pantomime twice since Big Brother, playing the Fairy God Diva both times. In 2005/2006 Kemal played at the King's Theatre in Southsea, and in 2006/2007 in Torquay and Runcorn respectively.

In November 2006 Kemal launched the online accessories store missblingbaby.com. The launch party for missblingbaby.com was on the 3 November 2006 at No.5 Cavendish Square, London and featured a fashion show and guest performances.

[edit] Eurovision Song Contest

In November 2006 it was reported that Kemal had been in negotiations to represent his native country Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 but negotiations ended with TRT on the grounds of Kemal being Transgendered. It was reported that TRT had said, "Turkey is not built on such principles".

Kemal is working on new material in the hope of representing another broadcaster in 2008.
