Keikouo (ケイコウオ? Keikouo in original Japanese language versions) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Keikouo in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]

Its Japanese name Keikouo is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for fluorescence (蛍光 keikō?) and fish ( uo?). The name Keikouo refers to the species as a whole, as well as individual specimens in the games, anime and manga.

Biological characteristics

Keikouo's design and biology are based off of the neon tetra species of fish, butterflies, and butterflyfish. Its body is blue and black with pink spots on its back tail. During the day, Keikouo bathe in sunlight. When it turns dark, the areas of their bodies that were exposed to sunlight light up and glow. Males have smaller tails than females.[3]

In the video games

Keikouo are Basic-level Pokémon that evolve into Neorant at Level 31.[4] Keikouo are only available in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
