KCLB

KCLB 93.7 or "The Desert's Best Rock" is a FM radio station serving the Coachella Valley and nearby areas of Imperial Valley and the Morongo Basin. KCLB features the latest rock hits as well it plays a sampling of classic rock songs from the 1970's, 80's and 90's. KCLB is the oldest radio station in the Palm Springs area, first went on the air in 1946 on 970 kHz based in Coachella and was under several different music genre formats. KCLB (then was KCHV) on the FM dial was launched in 1985 replaced the previous Spanish language radio station in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It had a few monikers, like "K-Club" and "La Onda del Valle" under a Spanish language format on the AM dial (1992-2000), and "the Rock" on its' FM dial when adapted the call letters KCLB-FM in 1993. KCLB 970 switched call letters as KCHV in the 1980's, switched back to KCLB in 1993 and switched to KNWZ 970 in 2000. KCLB's studio headquarters are in 1321 Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs and KCLB's strong signal despite its' low power wattage, reaches as far west as Beaumont and far east as Blythe.
