Kazipet

Kazipet is a town in Warangal District, Andra Pradesh, India, one of the tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamakonda-Kazipet. It is famous for a large railway junction and locomotive (largely diesel) maintenance division. The railway junction is located next to a large granite hill, which is used to house radio communications, presumably for the railways. The railway station has several platforms (6) but the numbering begins from 3. Platform 1 is now largely defunct. It was used as a VIP siding, where VIP coaches were brought in and the guests could move from the station bypassing the main gates. But this is no longer practiced.
Kazipet is well known for its convent education system with 4 major convent schools (St. Anns , St. Gabriels,Kakatiya High School, Fatima). The town is diverse, with Hindus, Christians, and Muslims. Many of the residents are employees of Indian Railways. It used to be a hub connecting North and South, East and West India with more than 60 passenger and express trains passing through. One of India's best engineering colleges (National Institute of Technology, Warangal- NIT) is located within 1.5 mile from the heart of the city. The Kaktiya University [1] is 5 kilometers from Kazipet railway station.
