The Cyrillic letter Straight U with stroke or Waw with Damma (in Kazakh) (Ұ, ұ) is a straight Cyrillic У with a horizontal line through it. It is used in Kazakh to represent the close back rounded vowel /u/ or the Near-close near-back rounded vowel /ʊ/.

This letter should not be confused with the symbol for the Japanese yen or the Chinese yuan (¥).
