Kawkhali is located at 22.6203° N 90.0694° E . It has 13763 units of house hold and total area 79.64 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^GRBangladeh, Kawkhali has a population of 70347. Males constitute are 50.46% of the population, and females 49.54%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 37391.
