Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuanian: Kauno Technologijos Universitetas (KTU)) is the largest technical university in the Baltic States and the second largest university in Lithuania.

During the Soviet occupation (1950 - 1990) the university was called Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (Lithuanian: Kauno politechnikos institutas), from 1974 Kaunas Antanas Sniečkus Polytechnic Institute. Kaunas Polytechnic Institute together with Kaunas Medical Institute was formed from Vytautas Magnus University remains, after two major humanities faculties of it were transferred into Vilnius University 1949.
