Kaunas International Airport (Lithuanian: Kauno tarptautinis Oro Uostas), (IATA: KUN, ICAO: EYKA) is the second busiest civil airport in Lithuania after Vilnius International Airport. It had undergone a renovation in 2005 and as a result it's one of the fastest growing airports in Lithuania now. It mainly serves as an airport for international passenger and cargo flights. In 2006 airport handled more than 250.000 passengers (3 times more than in 2005). It is located in Karmėlava, 9.4 miles (15km) northeast of the Kaunas centre. Bus #29 heading to "Oro Uostas" will get you from the city centre to the steps of the airport for 1 litas (similarly 29 from the airport will get you into town). The Europe's leading "low fares" airline Ryanair is the main operator in Kaunas airport.

Kaunas International Airport started operations in 1988 when airport activities were taken from Aleksotas Airport - other airport near Kaunas.
In 1991, after Lithuania's independence, it gained status of an international airport.
In 1996 it became a member of Airports Council International (ACI) and it began to take part in activities of "Lithuanian Airports" association.
