My interests range from gourmet cooking and dining to cultural anthropology and ethnography, solid perfume making, modern homesteading and literature. I read voraciously and have a large capacity for disappointment with the written word. I enjoy languages, copyediting, and reading historic biographies. I had the opportunity to travel extensively in Europe while living in Belgium as an ex-pat for nearly four years. I have trained and worked professionally as a chef, took a degree in archaeology/art history, and also own the 20-volume second edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. Beginning in 2006, I will be constructing a log home in the butt-and-pass style, from scratch. One of the things I like best in life is having a whole day to myself in my own home, with just my cats, a pot of tea, and a good book for company. I love Italy because it has the best food in the western world.
