[edit] Notability
Whether policy explicitly states it or not, Wikipedia precedent has already clearly established that mayors of cities are notable enough for Wikipedia articles. Bearcat 08:12, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I reject the notion that the observations of some editors who have observed some AfD proceedings means that the notability template is invalid in this case. I will point out, however, that the precedent page warns against just this type of mayor article. Erechtheus 09:06, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I wrote the current precedent statement on mayors. This doesn't conflict with it. And it's not "some", either; to the best of my knowledge, no mayor has ever failed an AFD on notability grounds. Bearcat 09:10, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure I have actually nominated mayors who have been deleted, though it is possible that it is councilmen I'm thinking of. I'll go review my old AfDs and let you know. Erechtheus 17:06, 6 October 2006 (UTC) Update: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tom Daly is one such AfD. I checked a couple of the other political AfDs I have brought, but I can't tell whether they were councilmen or mayors because I didn't write the name of the position in the AfD. [edit] Update
Kate Quarrie is NOT currently mayor of Guelph, and the article contradicts itself by stating that Karen Farbridge has been elected as mayor. So I'm removing it. --74.114.153.200 05:11, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
