Kattuthalaivasal is located in Karaikudi municipality in the Sivaganga District in the Indian state of Tamilnadu. This area comprises of Ward 15, Ward 16 and Ward 10. Majority of the people in these are muslims and they are living in harmony with others.

Jamia Masjid is an important landmark in Kattuthalaivasal and was renovated in 2005.

Kattuthalivasal area gained momentum when Periyar Silai(Statue) area acquired lot of facilities, Particularly because of new Bus stand.

As of 2001 India census,GRIndia kattuthalaivasal had a population of 6,000. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Majority of the population are Muslims.

Kattuthalaivasal is one of the key areas in Karaikudi. Kattuthalaivasal's Postal pincode is 630001 and Dialing code is 91-4565. It is very near to Sekkalai Road that is located at north-east of Karaikudi, which was known as "Jain Kunda Puram" 50 years back.

At the Centre of the Karaikudi city, this mosque is one of the oldest mosque in Karaikudi. This mosque is recently renovated in 2005. Recently Indian President Dr. APJ. Abdul Kalam delivers his speech on this mosque.
