Kattakayam Cherian Mappila

Kattakayam Cherian Mappila (1859-1936)[1] was the first Christian poet of Kerala. He won the title of Mahakavi for his seminal work of poetry, Sreeyeshu Vijayam(Victory of Jesus). He lived in the Central Travancore town of Pala in Kottayam District where his statue has been installed at the town square honouring his contribution to Malayalam langauge.
