[edit] DJ's of Katsu

It is known that there are two members (note: duet) Dj. Kata and Dj. Kaki

[edit] General History

Katsu is the name of the collaborative project of the two Australian DJs, dj KATA and dj KAKI, who work with Rodgersmusic, an Italian record label, in the production of AVEX (A Japanese record label)'s popular compilation series Super Eurobeat. Known to have debuted in Super Eurobeat 168, it's very much speculated over which pseudonyms KATSU own, as not a single track has been recorded under their official credited name.

[edit] Recent Information

Katsu's popular official fan site has recently been taken down for unknown reasons, AVEX' network has not been the subject of any errors recently, so it was certainly intentional. Many speculate that information about their newest tracks, including a full .mp3 version of their 'debut' track "Ice Macabre" was leeched into the general section of the forums, creating an uproar and giving rise to 2 factions of fans, those who approved of, and those who disapproved of this infringement of copyright - although it's equally plausible that this new track was considered abysmal enough that AVEX has chosen to ditch them from the lineup of the upcoming Super Eurobeat album.

From comments left to their unofficial fansites, KATSU can be broken down to KA-TSU, which, phonetically in Japanese, can mean KA-TU, or KA-TWO: Both DJs' first syllabes are KA - hence, two KA, which can be re-arranged to KA-TWO. However, much speculation revolves around whether either DJ actually posted on these fansites; amongst their Australian fans, dj KATA and dj KAKI have a very high percentage of online 'impersonators,' presumably due to a severe lack of Australian electronica artists in the international scene.

[edit] Identification of Katsu

Hints given about the identities, personalities and works of the two DJs were said to have circulated in Super Eurobeat 170, which, when played under certain conditions, each track would in fact pronounce certain phrases recorded in the same voice - although every single one is nonsensical and grammatically incorrect, no matter how they are arranged. Some fans have proposed the following phrases, pieced together from words in amongst each track; it should be noted that there is no apparent order in which tracks are used:

Head Hunt Highway
To The Sky Eternity
Disco Night Dreams
Information Link Credits
Time Crisis Four

In interviews, the two have stated that although their base of operations lies in Canberra (the capital of Australia,) they contribute their works to Rodgersmusic via sampling and arrangements mostly through email communications. When asked questions about how their works affect Super Eurobeat at all, it was staunchly stated that they in fact composed entire tracks that were featured in Super Eurobeat, and then hinted to 'look at the links between credits.'

[edit] Future Plans for Katsu

Information toward the future plans on Katsu is thought to rest on the pending decision AVEX will make toward the start of 2007. Fans predict AVEX will not be using Ice Macabre in their new album but will continue to support Katsu with the hope that no more track's will be leeched pre-release.

Katsu's first album 'ZODIAĶ' has announced to have a release date mid 2007.
