"Katrien" is a song by Scottish Post-rock band Mogwai from their 1997 debut album, Young Team.
[edit] Musical structure
The song starts with a minor key bass riff and quiet voices speaking in the background. Distorted guitars then come in for a while, as the drumbeat gets more frantic. After going back into the quiet part of the song, the drums stop, and all that is heard is the bass riff and voices singing a melody in the background. The drums and guitar come back in, and start building up to a climax. As they get faster, more and more voices are heard. The drumbeat gets more frantic, and then all of a sudden, everything stops, the drumbeat grinds to a halt, and the sound of voices fades out.
