Katoomba to Mittagong Trail
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Katoomba to Mittagong Trail is a 132km long walk that starts in the Blue Mountains at Katoomba (New South Wales, Australia) and finishes in the Southern Highlands at Mittagong. The walk descends via the Narrowneck Plateau to the Megalong Valley, crosses the Cox's River then follows Scotts Main Range to Yerranderrie. From there it makes east to cross the Wollondilly River, over the Beloon Pass then along the Nattai River to the destination. Public transport via rail is available to both start and finish. The walk is best made from north to south as the terrain is much more difficult to conquer in the opposite direction, heading south also prevents the walker from heading towards the sun. The walk can be completed comfortably in five days, though six should be allowed for to permit more time to see Yerranderrie.
