Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

This ancient monster is huge and has the ability to spray flames from her mouth. She is controlled by and will obey only a lur. The evil lord Tengil has the lur, and he uses Katla to terrorise the villagers in the kingdom, Nangijala. In an uprising against Tengil, he uses Katla, but loses the horn to Jonatan, who turns Katla around towards Tengil and wins the battle. Later Katla burns Jonathan, mortally wounding him but not before Jonathan can push a big rock on Katla causing her to fall into a river. There she battles another monster from ancient times, the great serpent Karm and they kill each other.
