Marthe Arends (born August 1969) is a Seattle-area author of fiction and non-fiction. As Marthe Arends she has written one historical romance and several genealogy reference books. Her most popular titles are historical, contemporary, and paranormal romance written under the pseudonym Katie MacAlister. She also writes Young Adult books under the pseudonym Katie Maxwell.

MacAlister's contemporary and historical books frequently feature anglophile, flawed heroines. Her heroines are frequently tall, rubenesque, klutzy, or divorced. Their male counterparts are typically alpha males who have had something happen in the past.
