Katie G. Dorsett

Katie G. Dorsett is a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's twenty-eighth Senate district, including constituents in Guilford county.
In 1992, she was appointed Secretary of the department of administration by North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt. This position made her the first African American woman to hold a North Carolina cabinet post.
A retired educator from Greensboro, North Carolina, Dorsett is currently (2005-2006 session) serving in her second term in the state Senate.
