From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kathryn Hazel Blair (born March 2, 1988) is the only daughter of British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Cherie Booth, QC.

While her residence of record, in common with her parents and her brothers Euan, Nicky and Leo, is the ex officio London residence of all Prime Ministers 10 Downing Street the family in fact live at 11 Downing Street since the accommodation there is bigger.

[edit] Education

Kathryn completed her A-Levels at the London Oratory School in May 2006.

In January 2007, Kathryn graduated from France's prestigious Sorbonne University with 71 percent in an intensive French language and culture course. Tony Blair has been criticised for accepting an invitation on her behalf from Bernard Arnault since during her course, which ran from 12 October 2006 to 26 January 2007, she is thought to have been provided with an accommodation, security and transport package worth around £80,000.[1]

[edit] Privacy issues

The Blairs have at times been ready to use legal and other action to protect the privacy of their children. For example, in 1999, the Press Complaints Commission upheld a complaint from the Blairs against the Daily Mail that they had improperly used their position to obtain a school place for Kathryn, on the grounds that it was both inaccurate and a breach of Kathryn's privacy.

In May 2004 there were widespread rumours and media speculation, including articles in The Age, The Daily Telegraph, the Irish Independent, and on Indymedia, related to an unconfirmed major event in Kathryn's life. This event was alleged to have brought Tony Blair to the brink of resigning as Prime Minister.[2][3]
