Kate McGarrigle

Kate McGarrigle (born on February 6, 1946 in Saint-Sauveur-des-Monts, Quebec, Canada) is a Canadian folk music singer-songwriter, who writes and performs as a duo with her sister Anna McGarrigle.

She is also the mother of pop singers Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright through her marriage to American singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III, from whom she is now divorced.

In 1993, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
