Kate L. Turabian
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kate L. Turabian (February 26, 1893–October 25, 1987) is best known for her book A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, now in its sixth edition.
Turabian was the graduate school dissertation secretary at the University of Chicago from 1930 to 1958. The school required her approval for every master's thesis and doctoral dissertation. Her stylistic rules closely follow the University of Chicago's Manual of Style.
Her book A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations and its associated style are generally referred to as "Turabian."[1]
[edit] Criticism
Although Turabian's style manual is standard for graduate schools in the United States, the book itself is often lambasted by graduate students who are forced to use the text.
