Kate Collins (born May 6, 1959 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American actress. She is probably best known for playing the character of Natalie Marlowe on the daytime drama All My Children — a role she originated in 1985.
Collins also played the role of Natalie's mentally ill sister, Janet Green, starting in 1991. Both characters (Natalie and Janet) were popular with the audience, but Collins ended up leaving All My Children for personal reasons. The role of Natalie was recast with Melody Anderson. The new actress proved to be unpopular, so the character was killed off during the summer of 1993. Collins returned to the show in 1997, 1998 and 2001, where she made brief appearances as Natalie (in "angel" form).
In addition to her soap work, Collins guest starred on the series L.A. Law, and co-hosted Good Morning America in 1989, where she substituted for regular host Joan Lunden. She has performed in numerous plays, including Doubles on Broadway.
She was raised in Washington D.C.. Her father is astronaut Michael Collins, who served as Command Module Pilot on the historic Apollo 11 mission (the first Moon landing) in 1969. She married husband Charles Newell, who is the Artistic Director of the Court Theatre in Chicago, in October 1992. The couple have two sons together.
Collins continues to act in theater work and she returned to All My Children as Janet in 2005. She was featured in a prominent storyline which aired into 2006. She again returned to the show as Janet on February 9, 2007.
