Kat Nipp

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kat Nipp (his name is apparently a play on the word catnip) is a villainous anthropomorphic cat in Disney's Mickey Mouse universe. Kat Nipp is an often drunk countryside toughguy who is a rival of Mickey Mouse.

He made his first appearance in the animated short The Opry House (1929), which also was Mickeys' first gloved appearance. The same years, he made his only other appearances in animation, in the shorts When The Cat's Away and The Karnival Kid. He made further appearances in a 1931 sequence of the Mickey Mouse newspaper comic strip (in which we also meet Kat Nipp's friend Barnacle Bill, a sailor who is an expert in untying ties). Kat Nipp was also used in the strips produced in Britain for the Mickey Mouse Annual. However, the character quickly disappeared and is now history.
