Just wanted to say "hey". How's everything going, are you staying out of trouble, etc. - brenneman(t)(c) 03:07, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Karma's fist on My Name Is Earl

I'm unsure how you got your username, but there was an interesting exchange toward the end of the most recent episode of "My Name Is Earl" on NBC regarding "Karma's fists". If you torrent, I would recommend checking it out just for a laugh. All the best. Scm83x 07:43, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

I thought about you when I saw that too. I started to link to your user page from the episode list, but I decided that would be a bad idea. --TantalumTelluride 21:24, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Public office

You joked on DoctorBuk's ArbCom page about "Wikipedians who have run for public office" -- I could actually join that category, if I could figure out where it was. :-)--SarekOfVulcan 02:02, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Town Council in Orono, Maine. 6th out of 6 with 15% of the vote. (It was a vote-for-three election, if I remember correctly.) Think I'll recreate that, if I can't easily find reasons not to... --SarekOfVulcan 02:30, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Just to let you know

That I got banned today for supporting Mistress Selina Kyle. It seems that they neglected to ban my IP address. So I leave you this notice so that you are aware of it. Zordrac

Oh and while we are here, the 2 people who were stalking me were User:Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters and User:Antaeus Feldspar (primarily the latter). Just check my user page and talk page history for evidence on the latter. Its pretty darn obvious. First is a friend of User:SlimVirgin, second is a pal of User:Snowspinner, which is apparently why they both weren't indef banned for the offences... 203.122.230.206 03:25, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey, KF? You probably are beginning to suspect this yourself, but Zordrac is a complete liar, and nothing he says should be trusted without checking it out yourself. User:Antaeus Feldspar/Zordrac contains all the evidence needed to show that; it details how he first gloated to me that he'd stirred up trouble between me and Daniel Brandt, then reversed his course and claimed that I requested him to represent me to Daniel Brandt, then contradicted himself yet again and claimed that over a week before I purportedly "requested" his "help" I had made public threats and "wild accusations" against him. Zordrac is right about one thing, and one thing only: I have had to make a habit of following his edits and checking up on them. That is because they so invariably contain outrageous slanders upon my reputation, as they do here. -- Antaeus Feldspar 14:37, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WHY delete my message in another's User talk?

It is my understanding that this is against regulations on wiki. Kukini 03:35, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Apologies, I thought you were goading Zordrac (talk contribs) there, he was blocked and was using that IP. Although it's generally frowned upon by custom unless there's a good reason(like the one above) or it's your own user/user talk space, there's nothing against it on WP:TP. Karmafist 03:57, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Oh, speaking of welcoming, I was wondering if you do it often. I seem to have the record. Karmafist 04:00, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
I was wondering if you could answer my question: Are you trying to piss off Zordrac? Karmafist 04:27, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
  • Was just saying "welcome" to an apparent newcomer. My bad. Peace... Kukini 05:27, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the awsome and colourful welcome

Title says it all. I try to save my works for articles since I can only type so many in a day. Thanks again. LinuxDude 04:57, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re: NFL Referees

That makes my think about a few months ago when I was thinking about making an article call List of notable National Football League referees. I even started drafting some ideas in my sandbox [1]. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 16:55, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RFA for Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters

While I still don't condone editing one's own articles, you've convinced me enough to change my vote for his RFA to neutral. NSLE (T+C) 04:52, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Ouch. That made me laugh. One thing, though, some people are put off by too-agressive a support. How you doing with avoiding shooting yourself in the foot (aka "doing a brenneman") these days? - brenneman(t)(c) 03:48, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Kevin Landrigan is a force unto himself - the publisher once made a pie chart of stories, with "local" and "wire" and "business" ... "Kevin" was its own section, he writes so much. - DavidWBrooks 11:18, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Good luck on the next Esperanza meeting this Saturday night!

[edit] Template:User does not trust Jimbo

You recently undeleted this page, so I think it is important to let you know that I have deleted it again. It consisted only of a personal attack against a Wikipedia user (User:Jimbo Wales), and was thus a violation of policy. If you disagree, please contact me on my talk page. Thanks. Canderson7 (talk) 17:21, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

I doubted that you'd have any problem with its deletion, but thought it best to let you know. Glad this isn't going to be an issue. Canderson7 (talk) 19:35, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] General troll treatment

I try, when I think someone is being provocative, to use this maxim: If I respond to this, whether with a statement or a question, do I actually expect the person to say anything meaningful in return? If I expect from experiance that whatever they say next will be rubbish, I usually just move along. See plonk.

brenneman(t)(c) 23:41, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Delete votes

Deleting votes? I have done no such thing. At least, not intentionally. I don't feel that strongly about the article to be deleting other people's votes. Also, considering that the majority of the missing votes were for "keep", I would have to be very stupid to delete them if I was of the same opinion. - 11:12, 23 January 2006 (UTC)The Great Gavini lobster telephone

Intentionally or not, you did delete those votes[2] from the sounds of your other comments, and since as you said, it would be stupid for you to delete people's votes who feel the same way as you, it probably was just an accident and the best thing to do is apologize or just be more careful on afd in the future. Karmafist 16:22, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Or I could do both? I'm sorry that those particular votes got deleted in some sort of bizarre accident but a) I was only trying to vote on an article that Jason-what's-his-face told me to vote on and b) I've left the Inclusionists (hurrah!) and hopefully I won't end up doing any slave-jobs for various Wiki-organisations anymore, like voting on articles I couldn't care less about, so I'll probably never vote on AfD again. - 16:29, 23 January 2006 (UTC) The Great Gavini lobster telephone
That sounds good. Wikiprojects and people spouting philosophies are all good and fine, but they're not worth it when they tell you to do things you don't want to do. Karmafist 16:34, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] LOL

Karmafist: I think you did a no-no: compare [3] with [4]... :D--ViolinGirl 00:06, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Ha ha! I thought you would get a laugh out of that. :D Have a nice day!--ViolinGirl 12:02, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nothing Important, Really

Happened to read your comments on User:Lion King's talk page, and they struck a certain chord with me...as interested as I've become in soccer, it still pains my incredibly that I cant watch real football on Sundays. I actually came close one time...they broadcast two NFL games per week, one from each of the traditional timeslots (1 and 4 PM, 7 and 11 here respectively) on the equivalent of DirecTV. And they said they'd broadcast New England/Miami towards the beginning of the season. Well, it was during that every-other-week-lose period, so I guess they decided to play another game which did not involve two teams that weren't exciting to watch. It was excruciating. Anyway, this stemmed from 1.) your referrence to the Pats being up 28-0, which is something I miss seeing on TV terribly and 2.) nothing. P.S., I'm impressed by that welcoming record.--jfg284 you were saying? 21:17, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks from Lulu

Storm clouds ... and silver linings Thank you for your support on my RfA.
Unfortunately, it failed to reach consensus. Nonetheless, it proved an opportunity to establish contacts and cooperation with many supportive editors, which will be beneficial to editing Wikipedia in the future. Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters (t @)

[edit] You're welcome

You're very welcome. There's no need for barnstars. A word of thanks goes a very long way in this cruel world. Grace Note 03:16, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, the best way to make it happen is to model it, and I think you're doing a good job of that. Grace Note 03:36, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] You welcomed me so...

You welcomed me and it was very pleasant indeed! However, now I have a question: In citing a source, rather than a quotation (although I imagine the same copyright rules apply) on Wikipedia from a copyrighted academic text, are the rules the same as in citing a source for an academic essay? (i.e. you just quote/summarise the author and give a proper reference and that's fine?) To be honest I can't make hide nor hair of how Wikipedia's copyright policy works! Jezze 23:42, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

I recently came across some AfD-debates that were closed by you. Good job on that! Although, perhaps it had be wise to consider using {{oldafdfull}} on the article's talkpage when the consensus is 'keep'.Image:Weather rain.pngSoothingR 15:42, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] An Esperanzial note

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] howdy

I used to live in dublin new hampshire. not anymore though. I've made an edit that is controversial and in agreement with a blocked editor, and I fear retribution from the admin who is disagreement. can you email me at linda_e_novak@hotmail.com so maybe we can sort this out.Dimes for eyes aka linda

I'm afraid you seem to be a sockpuppet of that indefinitely blocked editor and have reverted several articles (not just one) to substantially the same version favored by that editor. I have accordingly blocked you, see your talk page. -- Curps 03:54, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
Could "you" not use pronouns in situations where there's the possibility of miscommunication, even when it's fairly obvious who "you're" talking about? Karmafist 04:47, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
Oops. I thought the indent made it clear, sorry. This same editor posted the same thing to my talk page and I replied there (and also on his/her talk page) using the pronoun "you". I then noticed from contribution history that he/she had also posted here, so I paraphrased the same reply just to bring you up to date, but reused the "you" wording of my earlier replies to this editor. -- Curps 07:13, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
No worries. Most people will probably assume it is "him" due to the link at the end, but you always get someone(like "me" on occasion)who will just skim through and say "OMG! Curps said Karmafist is a sockpuppet!" And shit ensues, blah blah blah. I'm going to see more on why he was indef blocked and see if we can rehabilitate Jonah/Dimes/Whoever if "this person" is at fault, which seems likely from a quick skim of the link "you"(curps) sent. Karmafist 13:07, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Garrison style homes

Hi. I'm no expert in real estate, but I think that in Britain at least it's not common to give names to styles of house. We would tend to describe a house by its relationship to other houses (detached, semi-detached or terraced), how many storeys and/or bedrooms it had, and its period (Late Victorian, Regency etc) if it dated from before the 20th century. We might rarely say Regency-style, Neo-Gothic etc if that was appropriate, but the only common terms we would use referring to the way a house was built would be bungalow (any single-story house) or cottage (very subjective). Everything else is just a simple "house". -- Necrothesp 17:58, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Remember the admin school thing? Well, I am wondering, How long does it take? And what pages should I become familiar with?

[edit] Regforafd unblocked

I've been in email contact with this user, who you and I both blocked for the suspicious name. It's a real person, that's the name he wants (even if it has some confusion value) and I'm unblocking the autoblocks too. His username is, shall we say, less than ideal ... but he's a previously resolute IP editor who did indeed reg for AFD. I noted this on WP:ANI and WT:AFD as well, so if my good faith is misplaced we'll notice - David Gerard 22:54, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
