I didn't actually see the picture, but when you inserted it, you accidentally blanked a paragraph of text. And about the message, it is an automated template message, not a personal one.--Conrad Devonshire Talk 03:00, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image tagging for Image:Gibsonpatriot.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Gibsonpatriot.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Fair Usage
Regarding the above image please self-revert the Mel Gibson article as the image you've uploaded does not qualify for fair usage there. The Patriot (2000 film) article would be the only article that would qualify for usage of the patriot image you've uploaded. Thanks. (→Netscott) 19:00, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- This is a warning. Do not replace (through uncommenting out) this image in the Mel Gibson article. If you do so you are likely to face blocking per Wikipedia's blocking policy regarding such material. Thanks. (→Netscott) 19:21, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- By all means edit according to Wikipedia's fair use policy relative to any given article. (→Netscott) 19:24, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- Do not make false accusations. You have now had your fair use image addtions reverted by not only myself but also by User:Freakofnurture. If you continue you will be blocked. I tried being polite with you and such politeness failed to get your attention. I suspect that a block will be slightly more attention getting. (→Netscott) 19:53, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- Do not refer to User:Freakofnurture as "freak-head". You have not properly understood the policy. Because there is a viable free alternative image to show who Mel Gibson is there is no valid fair use rationale to use other images of him on the article about him. Rather than spend time arguing I would recommend that you try to find a free alternative image of him that meets your approval. (→Netscott) 20:01, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

- Greetings again, please see Wikipedia:Fair_use#Counterexamples, specifically #5. This image belongs to the press agency Wireimage. This is why this image you've uploaded doesn't qualify for Fair use on the Mel Gibson article. Thanks.
Also know that User:Stellatomailing uploaded that exact image but after understanding the above explanation he requested its deletion. (→Netscott) 05:20, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Mel Gibson
I didn't realize until going through the history, what form your earlier comments had taken. I wasn't trying to be offensive or dismissive of your views, I was, probably inappropriately, expressing the dismissiveness w/ which I regard Gibson and anything he says, either against Jews or in apology for such remarks. I'm not surprised he made the statements he made, nor am I surprised he apologized profusely. While I still love watching the Lethal Weapon movies, I have long since lost any respect I once had for Gibson as a person, so his offensive remarks and reconciliatory pleas hold the same lack of interest for me. All I was saying, of relevance to the discussion on the article talk page, is that while until he says [soberly] "I hate Jews" or something like that, or starts funding the US Nazi Partei, etc., I don't support putting him in Category:Anti-Semites, but! I completely understand why pretty much any reasonable person could well-believe he fits in that category just as surely as Adolf Hitler or Haman. Tomertalk 10:13, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Gibsonpatriot.jpg)
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Gibsonpatriot.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. (→Netscott) 01:26, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Gibsonpatriot.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Gibsonpatriot.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (→Netscott) 02:00, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images and Wikipedia
Karatenerd, there is nothing wrong with the images you've uploaded but they do not qualify for fair use under the {{film-screenshot}} tag which states, "This image is a screenshot from a copyrighted film, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by the studio which produced the film, and possibly also by any actors appearing in the screenshot. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots
- for identification and critical commentary on the film and its contents"
Please see Wikipedia:Images_and_media_for_deletion/2006_August_9. This was explained to you previously. Please cease trying to use unqualified fair use images on the Mel Gibson article and find a "free use" image that is suitable to your POV on it. (→Netscott) 03:42, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Now you appear to be understanding better. I suggest you add to the above Image for deletion thread saying that the above images are no longer being used on the Mel Gibson article but are now being used in the articles related to the films they correspond to. If you don't add such talk they likely will be deleted. Thanks. (→Netscott) 04:06, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Fair use is only applicable to the Signs film. {{film-screenshot}} specifically states as much. Now you've got the image back in the Mel Gibson article. (→Netscott) 18:54, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Luflames.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Luflames.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
