As a matter of fact, twisted K-theory started a long time ago in a paper written with P. Donovan Publications Mathématiques de l'IHES 38, p. 5-95 (1970) under the title "K-theory with local coefficients". The basic ideas were already there (graded Brauer groups, Fredholm operators, etc.).
