[edit] Welcoming Newcomers

Not notifying newcomers of the toxic climate at the top of the power structure here at Wikipedia is a violation of WP:BITE after the Joeyramoney incident. He was an innocent 15 year old newbie, but got lynched by a mob because he didn't know there was a mob there and he was immature.

Rules were broken by those who created them, only exemplifying the immediate need for a clearly defined mechanism to create new policies and modify old ones.

However, this is unlikely to come with the current power structure on Wikipedia. Partially from the lack of common respect for different opinions endemnic in hyperreality situations like here on the internet and partially from the corrupting and blinding effects of absolute power. The only way it seems that Wikipedia can be reformed at this point is by stepping outside of this arena, excluding reaching out to newcomers in a request to help save the project they have just joined. This seems like a longshot, but something must be done before this project collapses into an advanced form of Usenet.

[edit] Why Newcomers Are The Only Ones Who Can Reform Wikipedia From Wikipedia

  • They are new to the process, not jaded by Wikipedia's paradoxical regulations.
  • They are often intelligent people that are not respected nearly enough by Wikipedia's establishment, either in terms of their contributions in Article space or their opinions in Project space.
  • The effects of hyperreality on most with high edit counts and the corrupting influence of absolute power blind those used to Wikipedia's pseudo-government on what needs to be done or if anything could be done to help cure the culture of intimidation and hostility that has taken over Wikipedia's processes.
