Karl Svozil (1956 - ) is a theoretical physicist at the University of Technology Vienna. His current research interests include
- quantum information,
- quantum computation,
- information processing in the auditory nervous system, in particular stochastic interference
- conventions in relativity theory,
- intrinsic physics or endophysics.
He is also interested in philosophy of science and aesthetics.
Karl Svozil was born in 1956 to Karl and Herta Svozil, a baker and a seamstress, in Vienna, Austria. He was their only child and received his school education in Vienna. He studied physics at the Universities in Vienna and Heidelberg. In 1982, he received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Vienna.
During that time, he completed a psychoanalysis with Harald Picker.
After graduation, he was visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory with a grant from Rotary International. He continued his research in superconductivity, and worked for the Austrian Science Ministry in library automation. In 1989 he received his Dozentur from the University of Technology Vienna, and shortly thereafter returned to this institution. He has close ties to the CDMTCS of Auckland University, is author of three books and over one hundred research articles, and serves in the editorial board of two scientific journals.
