I think it would be an interesting trivia fact that Lagerfeld speaks a very simple, colloquial german. That gives the impression to Germans that he is a simple-minded person. Compare the german Wikipedia. His statements also give the impression, that he is unconcerned and naive. http://de.wikiquote.org/wiki/Karl_Lagerfeld

In interviews he says that he doesn't care about the world's problems like pollution and exploitation of labor.
