Karnali Zone

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karnali is one of 14 zones of Nepal in the northwestern mountainous region. The headquarters is Jumla.

Karnali is the most remote region of Nepal and is not yet accessible by road. There are airfields with connections to the rest of the country in Simikot and Jumla.

Karnali hosts some of Nepal's National Parks: Shey Phoksundo (with Phoksundo Lake), famous for the snow leopard, is Nepal's largest Park at 3,555km²; another gem is the much smaller Rara National Park (with Rara Lake, Nepal's largest lake) at 106km².
