Karl Duguid (born March 21, 1978 in Hitchin), affectionately known as Doogie, is a versatile midfielder who plays club football for Colchester United F.C.
Karl has been with Colchester since he signed with them aged 16, and is currently the club's longest serving player which has been rewarded with a testimonial match, as well as the club captaincy. An established crowd favourite at Layer Road, he is often labelled as "Mr Colchester United".
Karl has fallen victim to some unfortunate injuries, including a knee injury which ruled him out of the whole 2004-05 season. However, Karl showed his resilience to return as captain, playing a key role in achieving promotion to the Football League Championship during the 2005-06 season. Karl scored against rivals Ipswich Town on September 29 2006 at Layer Road.

On 21 January 2007, tabloid reports appeared reporting that Duguid had walked out on his fiancee and their two children without warning in November 2006 after 12 years together - then dumped her by text. The "heartless" Colchester United captain left home after daughters Millie, nine, and Connie, five, had gone to school. He then sent childhood sweetheart Tanie Marshall a short message saying he had had enough. Duguid, who reportedly earns around £60,000 a year, ended the relationship with the simple words: "Sorry, I just can't do this any more." [1]
Duguid has now told Tanie he's found someone else, and is now going out with a 25-year-old brunette from Colchester.
