Karishma Trehan and creativity go hand-in-hand. Experimenting with styles has been her forte from the time she was in school and this passion of hers saw her enter the fashion world without a second thought.

Karishma did her basic course of fashion design from NIFT University in Mumbai. This was followed by the FDCT course (Fashion Design and Clothing Technology). She finished off with an advanced course in fashion at Wigan N Leigh, a UK affiliated University. This was a two-year course which ended with a fashion show where Karishma bagged The Best Designer and Best Collection Award.

With a strong foundation, Karishma then joined Pradeep Hirani of Kimaya. She worked with him for two years, starting with the then western store Ixtapa, where she headed the merchandising department. This put her in constant touch with high-end stores in Paris and London besides numerous trips to these destinations to source for Ixtapa.

Karishma then went on to assist Pradeep Hirani in setting up Kimaya. She was involved in every aspect, right from merchandising of various big brands for the store to working on different events, hospitality, look and feel, styling of shoots…. She then moved to Dubai to set up a branch of Kimaya. She was instrumental in setting up the design house when it opened in the capital as well. All this while, she also worked as an independent designer, setting up her own label, Karishma Trehan!

Karishma’s big break came in October 2004, when she was launched as an independent designer in Kimaya, Delhi. After her collection met with success in the capital, she was soon asked to stock her collection in the Dubai store followed by Mumbai.

Karishma has also been instrumental in setting up Ayamik, a luxury prêt store, where she also stocks her collection.
