Karin Slaughter, is a highly praised US author who debuted with her novel Blindsighted in 2001. It became an international success and made the Dagger Award shortlist for "Best Thriller Debut" of 2001. Published in 23 countries, she is both a New York Times and a number one London Times bestseller.

Karin Slaughter was born in Georgia in 1971 and now resides in the state's capital, Atlanta.

Slaughter is best known for her Grant County series (Blindsighted, Kisscut, A Faint Cold Fear, Indelible, and Faithless). Set in the fictional town of Heartsdale, Georgia, the narrative takes place from the perspective of three main characters: Sara Linton, the town's pediatrician and part-time coroner; her ex-husband, Jeffrey Tolliver, who is chief of police; and his subordinate, detective Lena Adams, Slaughter's most controversial character. The next Grant County novel will be published in 2007. The title will be "Beyond Reach" in the US and "Skin Privilege" elsewhere.

Like a Charm is an anthology, with short stories written by several thriller authors. Each story features a charm bracelet that brings bad luck to its owner. The time and place where the stories take place vary greatly, ranging from 19th century Georgia to wartime Leeds. Karin Slaughter wrote both the first and the last story.

Triptych is a standalone novel with three interconnected narrators, set against the urban backdrop of Atlanta, and was published in August 2006.
