Karima is a fictional character, a mutant in the Marvel Comics Universe. Her first appearance was in X-Men Unlimited vol. 1 #7.

[edit] Fictional character biography

A young street thief in Cairo, Karima was one of the thieves under the tutelage of Achmed El-Gibár, Storm's old teacher. Karima is a powerful mutant capable of giving both form and function to fears and desires pulled from the minds of others.

El-Gibár knew that the External known as Candra sought to capture Karima for her powers, and he warned the young mutant of this. Karima created Jamil, a young thief who was actually her own desire for companionship given form. Candra was fooled into believing that Jamil was the one she sought. Candra left with Jamil, and after El-Gibár died Karima became leader of the thieves.

Candra returned later to reclaim a jewel she called her heart, which was stolen from her years earlier by Storm when she was a young thief. She confronted Storm for the heart when Jamil was apparently taken over by the Shadow King. However, it was actually Karima projecting Storm's fears onto her creation, Jamil. Storm discovered Karima's secret, and Candra was defeated after her heart was destroyed by Cyclops.

Recently she has apperead on Rogue's X men team including: Mystique, Cannonball, Sabertooth, Lady Mastermind and Iceman.
