Karen J. Williams

Karen J. Williams, (born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, 1951) is a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She was appointed to that court by President George H.W. Bush on January 27, 1992, to a seat vacated by Judge Robert Foster Chapman. She was confirmed by the Senate on February 27, 1992, and received her commission on March 2, 1992.
Judge Williams received her B.A. at Columbia College in 1972, and her Juris Doctor at the University of South Carolina Law Center in 1980.
Williams has been mentioned as being on the list of potential nominees to the Supreme Court of the United States.
