Karen Greenshields is a reporter on STV Central's news programme, Scotland Today.

Languages expert Karen lived overseas for many years, including 12 months in Brazil, before joining STV as a researcher in 1995.

Karen had various stints as a researcher with independent production companies before landing a job with STV's holiday programme Scottish Passport.

Karen's first position in front of the cameras was to present STV's weather, and after a quick course in meteorology, she was given the responsibility of forecasting the highs and lows of the Scottish climate.

Karen moved on to Scotland Today's newsroom, where she specialises in arts and features. She has been Edinburgh Festival correspondent for the last two years and considers it her most prized assignment.
