Karamchand was the popular detective TV serial in the 1980s. It was broadcast on India's national television channel Doordarshan, and it was one of India's first detective series [1].. Pankaj Kapur gave one of his best performance as Karamchand. Pankaj Kapur portrayed the inimitable carrot chewing detective with elan. And of course you can forget his assistant Kitty played by Sushmita Mukherjee.

Sony revived this serial again in February 2007. Pankaj Kapur reprises his role as Karamchand while Kitty is played by Sucheta Khanna. The second version of the program airs Saturdays at 9:00 P.M. The first episode aired February 10, 2007 at 2100 IST on Sony.
