Karachi Circular Railway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) is a Mass Transport System (MRTS) proposed for the city of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. A plan for building a mass transit system for this city has been under consideration since the 1980s. Due to various reasons this project has been kept on hold for long. In 2002 the Sindh government has appointer Engineering Consultants International (ECIL), a consulting firm to prepare a project work to revive this project. The study was named Viable Implementation Plan for the Revitalization of the Circular Railway. The ECIL has proposed a two-stage implementation for this project. The proposed KCR would connect many of the city’s industrial and commercial districts.
