Kanoya, Kagoshima

Kanoya (鹿屋市 Kanoya-shi?) is a city located in Kagoshima, Japan.
On January 1, 2006, the towns of Aira and Kushira from Kimotsuki District and the town of Kihoku from Soo District merged into the city. As of this merger but with 2003 population statistics, the city has an estimated population of 106,719 and a density of 283 persons per km². The total area is 448.33 km².
The city was founded on May 27, 1941.
