Kangaamiut

Kangaamiut is a settlement in West Greenland in the municipality of Maniitsoq. With a population of 414 (as of Jan. 2004), it is the biggest settlement (bygd) outside the municipal centres of Greenland.

It is located just north of Maniitsoq at 65°49′60″N, 53°19′60″W. It is also the location where the town of Sukkertoppen (Maniitsoq) originally lay when the colony was founded in 1755, until it moved in 1782 to its present location.
