Kaneland High School, or KHS, is a public four-year high school located in Maple Park, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Kaneland Community Unit School District 302.

Kaneland first opened in 1958.

In 2005, Kaneland had an average composite ACT score of 20.3, and graduated 100.0% of its senior class. The average class size is 290. Kaneland has made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievement Examination, a state test part of the No Child Left Behind Act.[1]

Kaneland competes in the Western Sun Conference and Illinois High School Association. Its mascot is the Knights. Kaneland has a rich history in athletics. They have a total of 8 Illinois High School State Championships.

[edit] 2006 Football Season

The 2006 football season will be one long remembered in Kaneland's history.

The Knights were awarded a 4 seed by the IHSA following the end of the regular season, and their 6-1 conference record earned them a tie with Batavia and Geneva as the first ever Western Sun Conference Football Champions.

The Knights finished the season with a record of 11-2, 6-1 in the Western Sun Conference. Nine Knights were named to the Western Sun All-Conference Team, including:

  • Senior QB Boone Thorgesen
  • Senior WR/DB Casey Crosby
  • Senior WR/LB Adam Blazek
  • Senior OT Kris Rynertson
  • Senior C Tim Johnson
  • Senior DB Troy Jorgensen
  • Senior OG/DT Drew Nolan
  • Junior WR/DB Jody Henningson
  • Junior DB Brian Claesson

Thorgesen was also named Offensive Player of the Year for the Conference.

Blazek and Johnson were both chosen to the Academic All State Team, and Thorgesen and Crosby were both given All State Honors.
