Kandi is a city and a municipality in Murshidabad district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Kandi is located at [1]. It has an average elevation of 20 metres (65 feet).
Kandi is a small sub-divisional town with a government hospital and couple of very good educational institutions. They include Kandi Raj High School belonging to the 18 th century converted to educational place by Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar from a dramatic place, used for hosting drama etc by the Zamindars of Kandi Raj family. There is also a graduate education college named Kandi Raj college very closely located to the Kandi Raj High School.
There are remains of the old Raj family in central Kandi & Jemo Rajbati. There are few good libraries in the town indicating a rich culture of the inhabitants.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Kandi had a population of 50,345. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Kandi has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 60%. In Kandi, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
